My friend Serena will be getting to my house in a bit, and then we're going out to eat. I'm not sure where yet--and I'm also not sure if I'll be photographing my eats. I'll have to take that as it comes.
But to hold me over until then, I ate a light lunch of vanilla Chobani (!) topped with a handful of blueberries and half a leftover TLC Pumpkin Pie bar.
Now I have to go finish getting ready!

This afternoon's eats were sort of a hodgepodge of things. I had a lovely afternoon with my mom and sisters, and was so happy when my mom asked if I was hungry because I quickly went from full to starved on the car ride over! I decided this wasn't enough to fill me, so I ate a clementine. A couple hours later my sisters were sitting down to eat, and I decided I too was still hungry. I threw together a half sandwich of ham, pepper jack cheese, and mustard on whole wheat bread. I'm back home now, and believe it or not I'm still a little hungry. But I'm going to sip on my cranberry juice/water for now and see how that goes. As for the rest of the day, I'm not really sure what's in store, so I'll just have to take it as it comes!
I started off today really uppity, but my energy drastically faded somewhere around lunch time. A stomach pang hit me around 11:30, but instead of diving into my whole lunch I snacked on the pretzels first. About forty-five minutes later I ate the rest of my lunch. I had deli chicken and a slice of sharp cheddar cheese on a toasted ww pita, half an orange, some baby carrots, and a pickle. Finally, mid-afternoon I had my trusted snack of vanilla Chobani, this time mixed with some crushed walnuts. I'm going to try and make it a point to eat yogurt everyday I'm taking the antibiotics. And of course, throughout the day I was sipping on a 16oz bottle of about 3 parts water 1 part cranberry juice. Still working on feeling better!
So my afternoon ended up revolving around this: But let me back up for a minute. So I know the past couple of days I had mentioned my stomach not feeling up to par, and I hadn't divulged too much about it because I was just chocking it up to those lovely monthly cramps. But today at work I finally decided that it had to be something more because I typically don't suffer that severely. So I took advantage of working at a hospital and quickly learned that I have a UTI. Oh.my.god. Never get one. It sucks! So, I have antibiotics now, but the Dr. told me that cranberry juice really does help. So this afternoon after eating a little something: I didn't eat the orange; I mixed cranberry juice with a liter of water and drank that throughout the afternoon. Right before taking my antibiotic I snacked on some vanilla Chobani: The Dr. told me that the antibiotic should kick in quickly. I sure hope so; this is rather painful!
I only worked a half day at work today. My stomach has been in a bit of a funk, as you will see from my eats thus far today. But not feeling the best, I just grazed on the cereal for a couple of hours. For lunch I also kept it plain and simple. I ate an ounce of deli chicken and a slice of sharp cheddar cheese atop a slice of Italian bread, with some pretzels on the side. I know I haven't eaten much of anything today, but now that I'm back at home I'll be trying some more food in a bit. I'd been a little hungry all morning, I just didn't want to upset my stomach too much at work.
I had the luxury of eating lunch at home today, so I decided to cook up a an egg and make a nice English muffin sandwich. Typically during the week I eat lunch from my desk at work and primarily pack cold cuts and nut butters. It's nice to get a change when I can! And assembled, ready to eat:
Boyfriend's family invited us over for dinner again. Right before leaving I threw together a few things to eat as lunch on the way over. I didn't want anything too filling, as I didn't know what time dinner would be. And of that I ate the pretzels, a slice of sharp cheddar cheese, and the baby carrots. It was just enough to keep me full until it was time to eat again. Boyfriend's dad barbecued some chicken, and there was also corn on the cob and baked potatoes. I ate one of the corn on the cobs--sliced off the cob, a baked potato, and a chicken leg and unphotographed chicken breast half. For dessert I ate two of these bakery cookies: Yes, cookies are a trigger food for me, as I discussed in my entry "Triggers" that you can find under the "Ed" category on the right-hand side of my blog. Typically in public I either avoid my trigger foods all together, or I set up a limit on the amount I can eat. Today I told myself that two cookies seemed reasonable. They did just the trick!
It was really very nice to be able to sit our in their yard today and soak up some sun. I'm starting to remember how much more challenging it is to go to work in the warmer weather, when I'd much rather be outdoors enjoying the fresh air! I had plans to meet up with a friend earlier this morning, but she got tied up so I've been keeping it a bit low key. Then before I realized it, it was already lunch time! Later on this evening boyfriend and I are meeting up with some friends to visit a local carnival. We're planning on cooking at home first so I'll be checking back in before then!
Boy am I glad it's Friday! When my alarm went off this morning I thought "Ugh," but then realized it was already Friday and popped out of bed! Even though it was a short work week, it felt like a full one. I really wish I could post to you throughout the work day. But believe it or not, we only have one old school computer in an office of four that hardly allows us to do anything, and I work at a hospital! It blows my mind anyway. Moving on--For lunch I had two toasted ww pitas. I topped the pitas with that peanut butter there in the container, and ate orange bell pepper and watermelon on the side. For my mid-afternoon snack I decided to switch things up a bit. I ate a hard-boiled egg with a slice of American cheese (x2 for the cheese). Now I'm winding down and re-grouping for the night to come! Happy Friday!
For breakfast this morning I had a bowl of Optimum Blueberry Cinnamon. I'm trying to use it up so I can get another cereal! It's grown on me a little bit, but it's still not a favorite. On the side I had a small bowl of watermelon from the baby watermelon that I cut up last night. When it came time for lunch I wasn't quite as hungry as usual, but I knew if I waited I might lose the opportunity to photograph it. I toasted up a ww pita and topped it with deli chicken and American cheese. I also had a produce plate filled with apple, grapes, and baby carrots, and an ounce of pretzels. Finally, as a snack I had my usual vanilla Chobani, and topped it with half a TLC Honey Almond Flax bar. I eat Greek yogurt so often as a snack because I find it a great way to get in a dairy serving, and also because it really does the job of filling me up between lunch and dinner.
I think we all can relate to the time between lunch and dinner as being a junk food trap. Having something that really sticks to my stomach like Greek yogurt keeps the cravings at bay. |
