Hello, hello, and hello. So much has happened since I last blogged, and unfortunately most of it has been a bunch of negative events. However, the blogging hiatus has given me a moment to step back from my blog, reflect on it, and think of the direction I'd like it to move forward.
After posting many revealing stories about myself and my personal journey with food, I think it wiser at this point to not publicly disclose so much. So if you notice I blocked a couple of tabs I once had accessible to the public. I apologize for retracting information, but I know that most of you must understand my decision. I do want to say though, at the initial onset of my blog months back, posting everything that I did and sharing all that information was extremely therapeutic for me. And still, since the onset of this blog I can proudly say that I have had no tendencies to derail my eating with past abusive behaviors. I really feel like the blog helped me conquer that last hurdle holding me back from "regular" eating versus disordered eating. Do I think it's a closed chapter in my book? Absolutely not. But I do firmly believe that I have control of the situation now, and Ed has taken a back seat. Maybe I shall think up a new title for my blog then?
So what now??
I do intend to post the majority of my meals, but more so as a personal journal. I also intend to post the MyPyramid portions along with my meals for my own personal reference. I used to only post my pictures here and journal the MyPyramid facts in a private journal, but I'd rather have it all in one place. This isn't intended for anyone to mimic how I eat, or for anyone to comment on my portion sizes. It's intended for myself, to allow myself to maintain and manage my own personal health.
In addition to striving to meet healthy MyPyramid guidelines, I also intend to revamp my vitamin regimen. In the past I have taken multivitamins most of the time, and a calcium supplement with Vitamin D most of the time. Now I would like to make certain I take them every single day. I know there's controversy about the roles vitamin supplements play in one's diet, however I feel that even if they're doing nothing, the'yre not harming me so long as I take the appropriate portions and so it's worth trying! Also, since last week due to recent health issues, I take two cranberry pills with Vitamin C once a day. I also want to look into the Vitamin B Complex, Omega-3's, and the calcium supplement with magnesium versus the calcium supplement I am taking now.
Is anyone already on a vitamin regimen or have any experience or professional advice on vitamin supplements?
Stay tuned for upcoming meals!

So today has been semi-productive thus far. I actually went to the gym this morning, which I haven't done in an embarrassingly long amount of time. I did ten minutes on the treadmill, five of them jogging, ten minutes on the stair master, and ten minutes on the elliptical. Nice variety, and in and out! It felt good to be back there. Truthfully I've just been so worn down and/or sick in the past couple of months that the gym has taken a back seat. Sad but true. I'm confident it will cycle back in when the time is right. I had to drive back to my parents' house this afternoon because as of last night my old car is parked out there. I needed to clean it up and out because someone is going to see it tonight, and hopefully buy it =) It probably took about an hour or so to sort through random items and clean and vacuum. When I was done I ate a TLC Pumpkin Pie Bar before hitting the road again. Now I'm back at home and am waiting for Ryan to get in from work. I actually realized I am starving about ten minutes ago, and not only will it be a little under an hour that Ryan gets home, but we have no idea what we are eating for dinner. Eck! Talk about slacking with homemade meals this week!
Alright, so this has been a busy week for better or worse. On Monday I did drive home my brand new Jetta SE!! That was probably the biggest highlight of the week! There were a lot of late nights, and very little home cooking. I'll share with you highlights of my meals from the week. Lunch Snack I've yet to part with the Goldfish! Dinner It's just a brief overview of what went on. I'm hoping to get back into the swing of things.
I do have the pleasure of being off work today for the holiday weekend. There are some things I need to get done, and then Ryan and I are having a house guest tomorrow so I'll need to start all the cleaning for that. I hope everyone has a safe and fun holiday weekend. Maybe the 4th will actually kick off the start of some summer weather in New York?? I won't hold my breath! Hello!!! I'm writing to say that I haven't forgotten about you, and I have been photographing everything I eat. I've been super busy and tired between car buying and doctors, so my time at home has been limited and mainly spent getting ready for bed! Hello! Today was a long and busy day. Right after gobbling down breakfast, Ryan and I headed over to the VW dealer. I am 99.9% close to sealing the deal on a brand new Jetta! Tomorrow is the day of final decisions, so we shall see what occurs!
Then, we spent the entire rest of the day over at Ryan's parent's house for a bbq. Sad to say, I have no photos from any of the eats. =( His parents prepared so much food it was ridiculous. In the course of the day I ate half a cheeseburger, one hot dog, a bunch of tortilla chips with salsa, a few pieces of raw broccoli/carrots, a couple of potato chips, and two mini-sized black and white cookies. I was stuffed when all was said and done. I think my favorite part of the day was getting to sit outside and soak up some sun. According to the weather we're heading into another week of thunderstorms; not looking forward to that! Heading into a four-day work week though, so that's something to look forward to! Let's hope it goes by fast!! After buzzing around the house this morning tidying up and researching car information, I found myself terribly hungry. I decided to dig in on the leftover tortellini from dinner last night. It just seemed to be calling my name. Fortunately, this time around I was able to enjoy it with a nice big salad on the side, topped with my homemade dressing. It's just what I've been craving! After eating all's that photoed, I continued to eat! =) I had more tortellini to finish up the leftovers, and also a slice of Italian bread. So sue me, I ate a vat of carbs in the middle of the day. To be honest, I did feel a little too full after this, and quickly realized I could have done without the second helping of tortellini. But instead of feeling down about it, or beating myself up, I let myself digest for a bit and then did pilates =) Maybe that didn't really do anything to compensate for calorie intake, but it did make me feel better overall, so it did good either way. So about the car. I test drove the Jetta and fell in love with it. Tomorrow Ryan and I are going back to the dealer that offered us the lowest price to negotiate and pan out the details. There's a good chance tomorrow I'll be purchasing a brand new Jetta. Fingers crossed!!! After car shopping, Ryan and I ventured out to Barnes & Noble for a bit...AKA I browsed at the Pier 1 next door while he stayed and carefully decided between graphic novels. =) I didn't find anything worth purchasing though. Then on the way home, because I ate a massive amount of food at lunch and I wasn't looking to eat dinner, we stopped at Cold Stone for dessert. Why not jump right to the good stuff? I got my recent usual; cake batter with marshmallows and M&M's. Delicious as always!! There it is in all its melty goodness. Now it's off to bed for me. I'm excited to see what the morning brings!!
Hello, and good morning =) Last night after dinner I basically crashed, so blogging did not occur! Then this morning the second I popped out of bed I had the urge to go food shopping. Ryan and I have somewhere to be tomorrow relatively early, so I figured rather than rush around then, I'd just pick up the essentials today. Because I hadn't eaten breakfast before I left the house, I had breakfast foods on my mind the whole time I was shopping. (I know, they always say don't go food shopping on an empty stomach!) I really didn't do damage though ... I just ended up with two boxes of cereal, and a whole wheat cinnamon raisin swirl loaf. Hey, I could have picked worse foods! So after unloading the groceries back at home, I went right to toasting up two slices of the ww cinnamon raisin swirl. Mmm did that smell good! I topped the toast with margarine and strawberry preserves. I really wanted an orange, but the selection at the store today didn't look so hot, so I had 4oz of orange juice and skim milk on the side. It was a nice change of pace from the usual cereal fare. And now, the big fun announcement:
Later this afternoon when Ryan gets in from work, we are going to VW dealers in search of my new Jetta SEL. Woo hoo!! If I can cut the deal I'm looking for, I will be a new car owner in the very near future. SO EXCITED. Well...the doctor's visit didn't quite go as planned today. Actually, it didn't go anywhere. I'm being referred to other doctors, again, and the appointments aren't until next week. Give me the strength!! I ate all of the sandwich--deli chicken, Swiss, and mustard on Ezekiel bread, maybe a quarter of the apple, and one baby carrot. I wasn't feeling too hungry. For snack I ate most of the yogurt, topped with crushed pecans. It feels nice to be home. And I am happy it's Friday. I just need to keep reminding myself of all the positives, because I am so down in the dumps!! At least I have a yummy dinner to look forward to...and Ryan is preparing it ;-)
It's Friday! I've gotta say though, it doesn't matter much to me either way. What does matter to me is what results from my doctor's visit this afternoon. If I'm not on track to actually getting better, weekend or not, I will not be a happy girl. And there's some really fun plans for tomorrow afternoon, so I really hope I'm on my way to getting better by then!! Please keep your fingers crossed for me today! Thanks!
I cooked us up some chicken teriyaki tonight with broccoli, snap peas, and brown rice. It felt nice to eat a home-cooked meal. I'm not sure why Ryan and I started slacking? It was yummy and light.
I'm so glad tomorrow is Friday. I do have to leave work in the middle of the day to go to the doctor, but I plan on going back to finish the day. I'm not sure what's in store for Ryan and I tomorrow night, so we'll just have to wait and see. I'm super excited about Saturday. Fun plan are just around the corner! |
